About

Redefining theatre practice, scholarship and pedagogy to address contemporary challenges

Statement

I am an artist-researcher in intermedia and site-specific performance and an Associate Professor of theatre and performance at the University of Waterloo.

Since 1997, I have directed and dramaturged several large-scale site-specific, intermedia productions as well as other performance projects that address pressing topical issues. I have attempted to document this work on this website; some of these performances were created with students in educational contexts, some with collaborating artists and researchers in professional contexts.

As a scholar, I have published broadly in my field and I have edited a Canadian Theatre Review issue on site-specific performance, as well as a collection of writings on environmental and site-specific theatre in Canada, published by Playwrights Canada Press.

I am calling this site a ‘sensorium suite’ because eventually I hope this site will engage each browser’s many senses, as this is one of the principal aims of my work in performance.
